Gifford Dance Academy
Gifford Dance Academy are now running classes from Fairfield Community Hall as well as Stotfold and Baldock. This award winning dance school was established in 2015 by sisters Rebecca and Lucie Gifford and they now teach approximately 140 young people each week. The sisters are not only professional dancers, but acrobatic gymnasts to national level and many of their dance routines include an element of acrobatics.
Over the past four years they have taken their dancers on the most exciting journey including performances at Liverpool Echo Arena, Blackpool Opera House and this Summer Disneyland Paris! They have also filmed with Britain’s Got Talent and believe in including every dancer in regular performances so they have a chance to show what they have learnt and to build their confidence.
You will not find a friendlier dance school, with regular social fundraising events for the dancers and a true community feel. In fact Rebecca and Lucie are the sixth generation of their family to live in Stotfold and they are enjoying giving back to the local community as well as branching out with national competitions and performances.
Rebecca had the honour of studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London where she attained a postgraduate diploma in Community Dance and in contrast she has recently danced on the set of one of the latest Bollywood movies.
Some of the styles of dance taught in lessons include acro-dance, street/commercial, disco, contemporary, slow, rock and roll, hip hop, improvisation technique, jazz and cheer. The Academy also boasts a fantastic competition squad which won the adjudicator’s award at the final of the largestgroup dance competition in the UK in 2017 in front of thousands.
The ‘Gifford Girls’ pass their enthusiasm on to those they work with, often dancing with their students. The energy that they bring is contagious, classes are fresh, new and current and are open to dancers as young as four, right through to experienced dancers wishing to pursue dance as a career.
